Sweet valley movie

There's just something about Sweet Valley. With nearly 200 books, the series, which began publishing in 1983, has served as the inspiration for plenty of adaptations over the years, including a mid-90s TV show, a potential musical, and even a tentative film adaption.

Though many of the attempts haven't come to fruition, there's now a new version on the horizon for fans of the books to get excited about.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the team who turned the Gossip Girl book series into a TV sensation, are developing a new show titled Sweet Valley for the CW based on the Francine Pascal novels.

The duo is no stranger to teen drama—in addition to the original and rebooted Gossip Girl series, they've also worked together on shows like The O.C., Runaways, and a modern adaptation of Nancy Drew which also airs on the CW.

Joining Schwartz and Savage will be show writer Ashley Wigfield, who also wrote and produced for the recent Gossip Girl reboot.
